TELLING® is pleased that we are doing our part to help protect and conserve the Earth’s natural resources. All metal products manufactured by TELLING Industries meet or exceed United States Green Building Council LEED® criteria, for recycled content.
There are six possible LEED Points available by using TELLING Steel Framing Products.
LEED MR 4.1 and 4.2: Recycled Content- Two Points
The post-consumer and pre-consumer recycled content of the base metal used in the production of our metal-framing members contains a very high level of recycled content. On average, according to statistics available from the Steel Recycling Institute, American Iron and Steel Institute and the Steel Framing Alliance, US Steel contain greater than 10% recycled materials.
LEED MR 5.1 and 5.2: Regional Materials- Two Points
TELLING has three manufacturing facilities servicing the continental US. Our manufacturing proximity to your project will help earn MR 5.1 credit. We purchase steel from all of the major US steel mills; our extraction point of the raw materials used to mfg. metal framing will help earn MR 5.2 credit.
LEED MR 2.1 and 2.2: Construction Waste Management- Two Points
Since Steel is the most recycled product on earth, construction waste can easily be diverted from waste and landfills. Setting up a job-site recycling area for Steel can also help earn additional credit towards your LEED project certifications. TELLING recycles 100% of our scrap (approximately 3% of raw material purchases) generated in the production of our framing products
